Experience Letter

Confirms a role, the dates worked and conduct — what the next employer asks for.

What goes on it

These are the fields the form asks for. Anything you leave blank is left off the page — no empty rows, no dashes.

* Needed for the document to make sense.

Three letterheads

All three read the same fields, so you can switch between them at any point without retyping anything.

Common questions

What is an experience letter?

A letter from an employer confirming that someone worked for them: the role, the department, the dates, and a line on conduct. The next employer asks for it during background checks, and so does a visa office.

How is it different from a relieving letter?

An experience letter says what you did and for how long. A relieving letter says your resignation was accepted and you were formally released on a particular date. Most people leaving a job need both, and they are often issued together.

Can I issue one for someone still working here?

Yes. Leave the last working day blank and pick the "Still employed" wording — it confirms current employment rather than past.

Does it need a company letterhead?

It should look like one, which is what the three letter designs do. Add your logo and company address and it reads as an official document rather than a typed note.

Is this legally binding?

It is a factual statement by an employer, not a contract. Only issue one for employment that actually happened — an experience letter for work someone did not do is a document forged in their name, whatever it is called.

Do Indian employers ask for this?

Routinely. Background checks at IT services firms, banks and MNCs almost always ask for an experience letter from each previous employer, and visa applications ask for one too.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Two letters a month are free, with no watermark on either plan. Pro removes the monthly limit and adds the logo and signature uploads.

Can I issue letters for several employees?

Yes. Set the company details once, then duplicate a letter and change the name and dates — that is the quickest path for a small HR team.
