Common questions
What is a relieving letter?
A letter confirming that an employee resigned, that the resignation was accepted, and that they were released from their duties on a stated date. The next employer usually will not complete onboarding without it.
When is it issued?
On or after the last working day, once the handover is done. It is normally issued together with the experience letter and the full and final settlement.
What must it contain?
The employee name and designation, the date the resignation was submitted, the last working day, and a line confirming that company property has been returned. The standard wording here covers all four.
Can it be issued if dues are still pending?
Yes, and the letter says so — the settlement status is a field with "Settlement in progress" as an option, which is more honest than leaving it out.
Does it replace the experience letter?
No. The relieving letter records the release; the experience letter records what was done and for how long. Ask for both.
My employer will not give me one. What can I do?
This tool is for the employer to issue — you cannot write your own and it would not stand up to a check. Ask HR in writing, keep the reply, and tell your new employer the truth: many will accept a resignation email plus payslips while they wait.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
Two letters a month are free, with no watermark on either plan. Pro removes the monthly limit and adds the logo and signature uploads.
Can I change it after downloading?
Yes. The letter stays in your account — correct a date, switch the design and download it again as often as you need.
